Show a YouTube Video Without the Extras!

OK - I'll admit it - I've gone to YouTube to show a video to my class using the Smart Board and the related videos that show up on the right hand side of their webpage has the class buzzing! I look, and yes, there are some unmentionable ones I'd soon like to forget.

So here is a more teacher-friendly way to show your class a video without the suggested related videos or ad displays that cause you to go red in the face!!!

You should use a Firefox or Chrome browser, and download http://clea.nr/

Animoto Book Project

One of my students created an Animoto movie on the book "Automatic Millionaire". My students were to select a financial trade book and develop some type of presentation on the book. They could not just write a book report. Several used animoto, and this was one of the better ones. You can view it at the URL below:

Easy to use Media Converter

This is free easy to use media converter that we have been using in my high school. It will take almost any type of media and convert it into the media format you need. I have used to edit videos that my students brought in and convert YouTube files to get around our school filter which blocks YouTube access. The students have used it to convert music files to upload onto their new electronic devices. It is a Microsoft product and so far as been trouble free and very easy to use.

Create a Choose Your Own Adventure website 5th grade

This is an example of a Weebly website: Choose Your Own Adventure integrated content lesson with language arts, earth science, and character education. Economics lessons would easily fit this lesson strategy integrating math, economics, financial scenarios, social studies, science, fine arts, etc.
i am reworking the site with better design as I learn in the Weebly webinars.

Remind 101

Has anyone tried out Remind 101? It is a safe tool where you can send a text or email to your students to remind them of upcoming due dates, tests, etc. Students cannot reply back to you or will not know your phone number or email address that you use. Check it out at www.remind101.com
