We learned that our fillable PDF Student Workbook files are not compatible with Google Classroom or Canvas so we have transformed all of our Student Workbook worksheets into Google Slides!
For full instructions to incorporate the Student Workbook Google Slides into your Google Classroom, see the instructions below. If you are using Canvas, the first 4 steps are relevant as well.
Each Google Slide Presentation is a Student Workbook for 1 whole lesson. In some cases, there are multiple files for a lesson. The worksheet images are the background images of each slide. Text boxes were created on the slide so the student can't access the image of the worksheet, but can type answers in the text boxes on the slide.
- Teacher opens our Student Workbook files in Google Drive which has all student workbook files for the Advanced Level lessons, Intro Lessons and Active Learning Tools.
- Teacher navigates to the Unit folder they are interested in. The Unit folder will house Google Slide Presentations for each lesson plan within that Unit.
- If the teacher opens the file, it is View Only. Teacher will need to make a Copy of the presentation. They can do so by clicking File > Make a Copy. If the teacher is in the Unit folder, they can right click on file and select Make a Copy. That will save a COPY of the presentation in the teacher's Google Drive if they are currently logged in to their own Google Drive.
- The copy of the presentation now belongs to the teacher and is no longer View Only. If you click on a slide, you will find the text boxes.
- Teacher will then go into their Google Classroom, click on Classwork and then Create. They are creating a new Assignment.
- In the new Assignment, click Add, select from Google Drive, and then select the copied student workbook presentation.
- The Assignment dropdown has an option that you need to select "Make a copy for each student".
- Finish the rest of the assignment options and click "Assign". Students will now each have a copy of this Google Slide deck that they will do their own work in and submit.
Our fillable PDF Student Workbook files are still available and can be downloaded on each lesson plan page.
*This is different from the PowerPoint presentations that go with our lessons - those are still accessed on the lesson plan pages on the TCT website as before.
