This simulation allows participants to experience how responsibilities, financial priorities, and lifestyle may change as they progress through different career levels within a chosen occupation. Participants review the education, training, and experience needed for specific jobs, evaluate wages and employee benefits, and discover how developing new skills can lead to additional career opportunities and increased earning potential over time. As participants advance through each career level, they create a new spending plan based on their changing income, while also considering the lifestyle they hope to live, the goals they are working toward, and the experiences they anticipate during different stages of life.

The anticipatory set starts with My Future Snapshot, then goes straight to facilitation with Six Job Transition Reflection Questions, the Career Spending Plans Spreadsheet and Life in the US General Notebook Information. For the conclusion, participants can do a Career Journey Reflection or an Interview with My Future Self. Career cards are available for the following career pathways:

  • Automotive Tech
