This Active Learning Tool provides ideas and resources for using books as an anticipatory set, as part of instruction, or as a service learning project. An extensive list of children’s books and high school level books that teach a variety of personal finance topics is provided.
Some of the children’s books listed have free resources associated with them from Take Charge America, Inc and Money as You Grow Bookshelf (part of the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau). For other books, Take Charge Today has developed an activity that combines English Language Arts (ELA) and a personal finance topic related to the book. Activity level may vary and be different than the book grade level; please preview activities before conducting with your audience.
