The purpose of this lesson plan is to introduce participants to the concepts of fake news versus real news. The lesson connects the concepts of financial literacy and media literacy. Participants will learn how the media and news can impact our total well-being, including our financial well-being. Participants will also work to hone their media literacy skills. Participants will read articles, watch videos and look at scenario cards to determine if news is real or fake.

This lesson has an assessment at the introductory level, where participants write an advice column, and an assessment at the advanced level where participants write an article or create an infographic about Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency.
