In this lesson, participants are introduced to the importance of goal setting. The vocabulary options include “Road Trip Vocabulary” or the Quizlet Vocabulary deck. “Roll Out Your Future” and “Goal Out Your Future” are anticipatory sets with dice. During the lesson, participants complete the “What is Missing” activity to evaluate written goals and the “Show Me the Goal” activity. Multiple opportunities to create personal SMART financial and education goals are presented throughout the lesson including a Goal Tracking Journal. Participants can also watch The Pursuit of Happyness. Additional activities include a Goal Setting Timeline and the Gaining with Goals Service Learning Project.
