Begin the lesson by playing Knoword to learn vocabulary or doing the Insurance Key Words activity. The anticipatory set calls for watching video clips relating to insurance, then completing a Sketch Notes Summary or having a guest speaker talk about insurance or playing the “Two Truths and One Lie about Health Insurance” game. You can even play the first few minutes of “The Blind Side movie” to introduce the lesson. Watch the Allstate Mayhem commercials or complete the “What Covers This Risk” activity to help participants differentiate between different types of insurance. Conclude the lesson by playing an interactive round of Spoons or interview an adult in the Insurance Investigation Family Activity using the Insurance Event Activity Cards. To assess knowledge, have participants complete a scenario that simulates a real-life situation with Damon Goes to the Hospital.
