The purpose of this lesson is to provide participants with tools, tips, techniques, and instructions for finding an apartment. The lesson is aimed at bringing both real-world skills and audio/visual presentations into the learning environment, providing for different types of learners and learning styles. They will do this by evaluating financial decisions after watching video clips, responding to letters in an advice column, find apartment for various scenarios and practice the steps to finding an apartment in the Decision Matrix. This lesson can be used along with other Take Charge Today lessons such as Major Expenditures: Housing, Transportation, and Food, Purchasing an Automobile Assessment and/or Introduction to Spending Plans.

Lesson Objectives

  • Recognize the steps involved in locating an apartment and the financial decision-making that goes along with this process
  • Demonstrate the ability to use real-world tools like Apps and websites to conduct a search for an apartment
