Walt Disney’s Mary Poppins is considered a classic among movies, but did you know that it has many lessons about banking and careers? Not only that, but Mary Poppins also shows that finding a balance between work and one’s personal life is not always as easy as it seems. In the movie, we watch the Banks children, Jane and Michael, learn about banking from Mary Poppins, as well as from their father, Mr. Banks. While this occurs, we also learn the ways in which careers and occupational choices impact our lives, for better and for worse. Banks, careers, a work vs. personal life balance, and a classic cast all combine to make this an exciting and educational lesson for students in grades 7 through 9.
