Identity theft can be a very stressful and terrifying experience for any consumer. For the anticipatory set, participants will do the “My Fraud Risk” quiz. This lesson plan allows participants to interact through a skit that facilitates detective work for Unlucky Lucy. As participants help to solve the mystery of Lucy’s stolen identity they will learn the content of the lesson plan, such as ways that identity can be stolen, how to react if this occurs, and how to prevent this from occurring. The conclusion options include “What Should They Do?” where participants give advice for a scenario, “Don’t Let it Happen to You” using the CFPB to find articles related to fraud or watching Catch Me If You Can, a famous fraudster. Finally, the information that was learned will be assessed by conducting an interview with someone who has been the victim of fraud, or creating an infographic.
