There are 3 decks of cards that can be used in various ways. This lesson outlines several options for each deck.

  • The Companies That We Love! Cards can be used in a variety of ways with participants. Each card contains the company’s name, a brief description of what they do, the company’s logo, and pictures of products related to the company. These can be used as an activity in the Let’s Talk Stocks or Understanding Consumer, Decisions & Markets lessons. Note: As of November 2022, these companies are all part of the S&P 500.
  • The Match ‘Em Up Employee Benefits Cards can be used as an activity for the Getting Paid lesson plan to help participants understand the various benefits available when working as an employee. Some of the benefits shown are for full-time employees only. Some of the benefits would only be provided through large employers (with over 100 employees). Ensure participants understand that many benefits are not mandatory for smaller employers to provide. Benefits add value to an employee’s work experience.
  • Questions About Money Cards can be used as a review activity in the middle or at the end of a lesson or a unit to review the content and terminology participants should have learned. The questions come from the Advanced Level Multiple-Choice Test Banks at the end of each Take Charge Today unit. (Each card indicates which lesson.) This activity is designed to be a non-threatening way for participants to review information and reinforce the learning.

Questions About Money is one of my favorite activities. It includes questions from each unit, so I can do a short review of one unit, a moderate review of multiple units, or even a full course review using the entire deck. These cards are great for a quick 10-minute review at the end of a class period! The template let me create cards easily for other courses I teach.
